Students in grades 3-5 are able to participate in the William Allen White Award program. This is a Kansas state book award and the winner of the award is chosen by students. The award is in honor of William Allen White, a renowned newspaper editor, politician and author from Kansas. Each year, books, published within the past two years, are nominated by Kansas librarians for categories in grade 3-5 and grades 6-8. All students who read at least two books and receive 70% or above on a quiz over the books will be invited to a special reward party in late April after the voting is complete.
