About Our School
Mission statement
Sunflower Elementary School will share in the responsibility to provide diverse educational opportunities where all students can learn and achieve.
Principal's welcome
Welcome to Sunflower Elementary School, the home of the Jag Cubs! We are one of three elementary schools that feed into Andover Central Middle and High Schools where they carry on the tradition of being Jaguars as they grow in their learning.
At Sunflower we use a program called Capturing Kid’s Hearts (CKH) to help us positively improve upon our school culture and climate each and every day. This amazing program outlines a process staff can use to help build meaningful connections between staff and students, students and their peers, and between staff and families. The goal is to capture hearts in order to capture minds. We know that children will not reach their fullest potential unless relationships are strong.
Our Sunflower family values input and commitment from parents and teachers to provide a variety of learning opportunities for our students that extend learning beyond the classroom. These include grade level project-based learning with connections to local community partners, leadership opportunities with Student Council, Snack Shack and musical performances. Our Parents and Teachers Organization (PTO) supports our Sunflower readers through helping run our Fall and Spring Book Fairs where they purchase a book for every student and raising funds for our classrooms through our Walk-a-Thon activity in the fall.
Each day we strive to live out our school vision by growing lifelong learners who problem solve, build connections, persevere, succeed academically and lead.
